Magnesium sulphate is widely used in chemical, metallurgical, building, pulp-and-paper, textile, and food industries, in agriculture (fertilizers), in manufacturing of radio-electronic devices, medical industry and so on.

    Building industry:

  • Magnesium sulphate is used as an additive for road or aerodrome pavements;

  • Magnesium sulphate is included as a compound of cement (it is a composition made of caustic magnesite (a product of MgCO3, expressed as MgO, roasted at the temperature of 700 C) and magnesium salts, usually MgCl2 and MgSO4). Aqueous solutions of magnesium salts are often called “grouting fluids”. Without grouting fluids, caustic magnesite when mixed with water sets solid more slowly and serves as the main component for its production.

In pulp-and-paper industry magnesium sulphate is used as filling material and as a component which maintains and improves paper physical and mechanical properties when bleaching agents are used (particularly chlorine-containing ones), also it is used in the production of noninflammable paper goods.

Magnesium sulphate is used for flame-resistant compositions manufacturing, for different materials saturation as well as for synthetic detergents production (for example peroxide compounds stabilizer production).

Magnesium sulphate is widely used in textile industry as a filling material, weighting additive for silk and cotton, pickling medium for fabric dyeing and as a bleaching agent.
